Here another fine exemple of a Terrapin built by JH in the eighties. JH comments "I built mine back in 1980 & allways thought it would be one of the last built. Your members are correct in thinking they were all slightly different. Allan used to produce the "Terrapin Bulletin" (mine are still in the cupboard) where all the latest ideas were exchanged between builders and those running cars. My own car had most of these, things like 3/4 rather than 7/8 tube for the chassis rails, a simple tube instrument bulkhead rather than the diaphragm one, flat panel sides & a straight line from the rollover bar bulkhead down to the front bulkhead. It also had "Gould Plate" rear suspension (a modified upright with huge alloy plate to eliminate flex when using wide rears) and "Gould Gear-linkage (modded box with side output & direct linkage which gave a much smoother shift). I built the car whilst at college & eventually had to sell it when I got married, I whish I knew where it was now - It went to Johnspeed (a UK Leicester based dealer) in May 1990, at the time it was still running a mini-based mill with an alloy head. I then left the speed scene for a number of years, but am now competing again. I have not seen or heard of the car since." As anyone seen JH's car or maybe even know what happen to it since he sold it ?

Thanks for sticking this on the Forum Fred. A few other points from which the chassis could be recognised: 1) The brake & clutch pedals (on modified 100E brackets) were mounted on riveted ally plates at the front rather than brazed on lugs. For the "feet" of the brackets, I relocated the chassis cross-tube & mounted them direct rather than using the lugs in the plans. 2) Due to the ignorance of youth (& lack of 7/8 tube at the supplier), I fabricated the rear bulkhead out of 1" tube then only plated one side to compensate - ho hum! The chassis was not stamped with any numbers or other form of ID.
