Thought I would start a post about my Terrapin build.
I have just purchased a set of plans and a book from Allan and the build will start in summer 2009.
I plan to adapt the rear end to use a different engine and play around a little with the body work.
Due to work and family life the build may take several years…But I will post on here as long as the forum exists.

The plan is to try and adapt it to fit the 1.7 ford sigma engine that I have spare.
If I cant do that the its back to my first ever car - the mini engine just for fun.

Finally got round to ordering the steel for my chassis. The original plan to use the 1. puma engine when’t astray when I traded it in for a Fiesta ST.
I now have a mini engine to rebuild and a new welder + lots of steel. All I need now is some time! Just found out that I have to go back to full time at work instead of 4 days a week.
Paul
ps made a template for the bulkhead last night.

Have made a start>>>>>
so far welded up the front bulk head and started to rebuild a mini engine.
Also spending a lot of time converting the V8 in the kit car to fuel injection using throttle bodies.
Paul
The car will be finished for my 50th birthday
that gives me another 8 years

Hi Paul, As the MSA no longer specify a minimum cockpit width (was 810mm transverse width) it should be quite easy to run a central seat narrow cockpit Terrapin in Sports Libre (with suitable cycle wings and Sports Libre compliant roll over bar). This could give you a much wider choice of engines (and be competitive). Different championship series have varying capacity splits (some 1400cc some 1800cc and others 2000cc). Something like a Honda TypeR would give the car plenty poke!

After looking around at car engines I have finally bought an engine.
Some how I eneded up getting a BIKE engine.
so now going to collect it next week. Its a ZX12r.
now going to build up a mock chassis out of wood to get my head round it and look at the rear end.
Then later this year start welding up a real one.

Paul Nice engine - what you going to do with the sump? The original is a bit deep - The AB Performance ZX12R swinging pick-up sump is highly recommended (especially in a race car) www.abperformance.co.uk/products.aspx?cat=11&scat=33
