Have finally decided I must part with the mini engined Terrapin I have had since 1984, but only competed for 1 season due to three house restoration project priorities.
If anyone out there is interested, I will post more details and some pics of recent (incomplete) restoration of all mechanicals including engine rebuild. The car comes complete with bespoke trailer.... all for the knock down price of £3000 !

Hi Geoff,
I'm very interested in your Terrapin MK1. I have seen the pics you have posted. Is the car now like the pics are or did you fixed more. What is still to do and what is included in your offer?
Thanks lot for your answer.
kind regards Michel Vock

Mike, the car still looks much the same as it did in 2008 pics, but I have re-wired it since, and refurbished the braking system. I have sent you an e-mail with a Word document attachment giving a more detailed description.
Off to Cyprus on Monday so will not be able to contact you again until 25th.
Keep in touch
Geoff.

Hi Geoff,
thanks alot for your information. The only problem for me is the transfer of the Terrapin from you to switzerland!!! Do you have an idea how to make it as cheap as possible??
I wish you sunny holidays at Cyprus.
kind regards Mike

Mike et al, back from sunny Cyprus to glorious UK autumn weather (not). I have just found some earlier photos of my car (which I have now established was built in 1968/9), three from the day I bought it, two from the 1984 season, and one of the trial fit of the Tyrrell front aerofoil in 1989. www.flickr.com/photos/geoff_leyland/sets/72157622756616249/detail/The best way to transport it is to hire a van/pickup/estate car for the spare wheels, tyres, bodywork etc... with a towbar to hook up the trailer. Mike, I am in a small town called Conwy in North Wales, about 95 miles west of Manchester. If you can get onto Google Earth, locate the UK and put in a Post Code of LL32 8YF and you will end up not too far from our house.
Restoration of the cars bodywork continues ....

Thanks for your kind words Geoff
Sorry I have been absent for so long but things have been pretty hectic my end since I bought the car off you, and progress as been painfully slow.
I have decided to run the delta nose and no top section Geoff for practical reasons as the yellow car above. I will be keeping the original top section intact in my loft.
I have already had interested parties seeking to buy the yet completed car off me which is nice but rest assured she isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future. Desperate to drive here but still a way off yet. I also have no plans to change her engine configuration, as shes too important to the marque imho to change.
Keep you posted
all the best
Leighton

Quick update, I bought this Pin from Leighton earlier this year & am very close to having it back on the track. It now has a new Chevron based non wing body, a rebuilt engine as the previous one had seized due to being fed a mixture of Castrol R & mineral oil, I have also redone the hydraulic system again as the clutch was seized solid. Should be out again for the first time in many years before the end of the season.

I live in N Yorks & No:17's first outing will be back at Harewood where it all started. Coincidentally I was there then. All be it in my push chair. My Dad ran in the same class as Alan & the first outing for Terrapin 1 was the last time my Dad beat him
