Hi all, This is just to start my build thread which (with a following wind) will progress over the next 12 months. After a great deal of thought I have decided to stick with the A+ Series motor with a few modifications to get up to around 105 bhp. I am picking up my motor on the 12th Feb so I will post pics as things start moving. Cheers Mark

Well I am moving on now and have (thanks to Rob and Cita) got some great things moving forward however I got bored this afternoon and started on the engine. Well Carb is now stripped and a rebuild kit ordered. see if you can spot what has been restored so far. Before and after on the dashpot, the piston is serviced aswell.

Hi Mark, You have to start somewhere! It just needs a little effort to get started and into a regular habit of going into the workshop rather than sitting down in front of the TV. It's amazing how things start to take shape. Also if you are doing all the detailing work now, this will make assembly so much more pleasant later. (all those 5 minute tasks - if left to the last gasp would probably stop you getting the car finished for your first event). Personally, I thrive on last minute panics - invariably I arrive at scruitineering with the timing strut and a drill in my hand. ;D Keep up the good work. Doug

Hi Doug I have a habit from restoring motorcycles, I take one bit and do it rather than having loads on the go at any one time. so first is carb then head, then block, then crank etc..... I will also be starting to model my chassis within the next month (as soon as I have made my seat. Cheers for the encoragement. Mark

;D ;DWell in that case.... I'm sure there will be lots for you guys to learn from. Tip 1. dont order any parts until you know exactly what you need. I nearly ordered a service kit for the carb and only noticed it needed a rebuild kit after I had stripped it. Cheers all ;D

If you can keep that standard throughout the build than you gonna have a cracking racecar Mark.

Hi Mark, Nice shiny carb..... was this done with lots of elbow grease or do you have access to bead blaster or some sort of parts washer? Whatever method - fine job ;D Doug.

Dash pot was done with wet and dry 240 grit working up to 800 then finished with compound. The rest of it was done with a parts washer with normal fluid and Burlen carb cleaning spray (AMAZING STUFF) disolves carbon in seconds! Then a full rebuild kit from Burlen fuel systems to make sure it all 100% Thanks for the comments Mark
