Hi,
my 1986 Austin Metro engine has a cable operated clutch.I assume it is possible to replace this by a slave cylinder operated unit. Anyone has done this, experience with it? What do I have to look for?
Thanks
P.S. Am still cleaning parts and just bought two Nissan Cherry master brake cylinders to convert to bias breaking system.Cheap and much lighter than the original master from the Metro.

If you can't find a verto Mini or Metro with the hydraulic clutch, the parts are available from companies such as MiniSpares. Slave cylinder GSY0118 (imperial) or GSY117 (metric hose thread) Bracket DAM5992 Arm DAM5355 Bolt HDWB2737 (2 off) Pushrod 13H0396 Clevis pin CLZ518 Spacer 21A1108 Bolt for spacer SH604145
and a suitable flexible hose depending on slave cylinder.

Hi. I have recently done a complete mini rebuild and sourced all brackets and ancilliarys and new cylinder from a company in warrington who break minis and metros but also stock all new parts that you require. M & M mini/metro centre unit 5b, sankey trading estate, warrington, WA1 1PJ 01925 444303 www.mini-metro.co.uk/They also have an ebay shop with a link from the website Hope this helps. Ian

It's a bit confusing to me that Verto thing. From pictures on the net I think I have a Verto clutch,at least, if the short actuator arm is the clue to this.
Mini and Metro are so rare to find here on the mainland that the chance of finding clutch parts is very small.
I don't mind "fabricating" stuff and in that respect wonder if "any" type of clutch slave cylinder can be used.I'm sure I can find a clutch slave cylinder from a small jap car rather easily and cheap (I know I'm a "tight ass").
Would this be a "do" or "don't" ?

A new verto clutch slave cylinder is about £30 new. Gilbert - I forgot to mention I had a look at my stock of old bits and I have the verto type arm, bracket and slave. The slave has probably been out in the rain too long......

Hi Douglas,
do you think the slave is "rebuildable" (is that an English word or did I invented that?) I'm interested in the slave cylinder-bracket-and the arm, in the assumption that you're willing to sell it AND going through the trouble of removing and mailing the stuff Douglas.
Thanks!
