Hi Fred the testing went pretty good apart from a leak in one of the radiators ( that what happens when use use second hand parts) there were no problems. I discovered that the gear pattern is the reverse to the normal mini pattern but I can live with that. The engine I am using for testing and setting up the car is a standard 1100 A series with a 40mm Dellorto carby. I was very supprised at how quick it accelerated although being restricted to 2nd gear in the car park. I think im going to have a lot of fun on the track. Our supersprint series starts this Saturday and I have entered the car I will be using it as a test and setup day but if all goes well I may attempt a couple of quick laps at the end of the day. Cheers Wayne P.S. Please feel free to use any of the pictures on my Website

Wayne, are you using the rod change gear lever? I am - you can reverse the mechanism inside the alloy housing to give correct change config. You have to drive the pin out of the lever and put on other side, effectively turning the lever around 180deg. in the housing - It's done on GTM & Midas kit cars cheers Rob

Rob ive done what you suggest with the gearstick. I can only assume the problem is at the gearbox end as I am not using a rod change box. Cheers Wayne

OK - best of luck - Lets hope there are not too many missed gears - this area of the Terrapin caused Allan a lot of grief - several solutions being tried. Incidentally - been in touch with a guy called Gordon Riseley @ Ringspann.co.uk He is looking at possible cable shift solution. ringspann.co.uk/racing.html

The Cable selector sounds like a good idea.

Wayne, Looking at the picture of your gear linkage (on your web site), you appear to be using the rod change remote in the cockpit. If you are using this with the rest of the linkage as per Allan's plans then you will get a reversed pattern. Allan's design in HSLC has the pivot point under the gear rod fixed to the chassis - when the gear stick moves, the rod moves or rotates in the same direction. With the rod change (or remote change) remotes, the pivot points (effectively there are two in the remote) One is attached to the rod itself and the other is the pivot of the stick in the housing. The result is the rod moves in the opposite direction to the gear stick. Hope this makes sense? Doug.
