If you have built, modified or just own a modified Terrapin, would you like to share the mods here which have been made which have improved the car in any way.
I am hoping to slowly build a car up wityh bike engine. First step is to use google sketchup and draw up a chassis. Anyone have access to a CAD and interested in doing finite analysis on chassis stiffness? I thought about using aluminium honeycomb bonded to chassis to increase stiffness and then found the Reynard Invertor (an open sourcce race car design)n which does just that.

Seems a while since anyone posted in here!
I'd be interested to see any mods too.
I have a friend with a s2 Lotus 7, which he had refurbished and reskinned by arch motors. When they did the work he also had them add the extra chassis members that have been designed in over the years, part of which includes some Ali honeycomb panels in certain areas. Not sure where but I think rear bulkhead as well as some additional steelwork in the transmission tunnel, where I think the original design was a simple Ali tunnel.

be very interested to know if any one has done a stiffness test on the original terrapin type chassis .............. with all the modern systems available to those who are IT literate it would be very interesting to see what an " old fashioned " ie tie the chassis down and get it to deflect, do the calc.... against a modern day pc generated finite elemental analysis, would give in foot pounds per degree etc. To quote the the late great A.Stan. in I think Hi speed low cost when he compared the String board Computer to the modern PC, any comments Golfpin
