I have a Terrapin "kit"; it is chassis No.63 built in 1986 by Gala Engineering, a section of BAC I'm told. Whether this is true I have no way of knowing - but all the bolts are of aircraft spec' as were the rose-joints, so it kind of seems right,
The chassis needs some welding - a long weekends worth, then blast cleaning and powder coating. The wishbones have been nickle plated (cost £300). New (boxed) coil-overs and springs (cost £640) Refurbished "S" front hubs (cost £350.00) New rose joints (cost £550.00) Steering system all complete. 4x Mamba 10"x6J wheels with worn 'wets'. Alloy 2x gallon race tank (cost £90.00) New roll-over bar made from 2" T45 with cross-brace and belt mounts, also diagonal brace tube (needs welding in) (cost£200.00). Seat, Pedal set, and rear hubs. No body work.
If anyone is looking for a cheap Terrapin, then this is probably not going to be of interest. If anyone is looking to build an 'as new' Terrapin (as was I) then this would be just the job, with just some welding and powder coating, bodywork (not difficult), and then putting together.
I've put a price of £2,500.00 on it being the cost of the new parts, and few hundred for the chassis, suspension and steering. The car has sat my garage with nothing much happening to it for a few years now. It's obvious that due to my business commitments I'm not going to have time to complete it in the near future, so it might as well move on. However, I'm (for once in my life) not busting for £2,500.00, so please (with respect) note that it will not be sold for any less.
Would be pleased to hear from anyone who's seriously interested. Please contact; desmond "at" tatimms "dot" com. (Car nr Newport Pagnell. UK).
