Hi all, Does anybody know what the latest MSA requirement is for removable roll bar sections and their mounting arrangements that might apply to the rear of the terrapin, epically where the roll hoop and square section that make up the rear chassis connect to the removable back stay. What 's the MSA bracket requirement in this area? I've got a copy of MSA 2005 blue book, but things may have changed any help/info would be appreciated. cheers jason

Hi Jason, 2009 Blue Book regs for single seaters Main rollbar CDS 350N/mm2 42.4mm OD x 2.6mm wall tubing minimum. Rollbar to be symetrical 90cm high vertically from cockpit floor At least (1) rearward brace (same diameter as rollbar) from top of hoop and not more than 60 degrees from the horizontal. If (2) rearward braces are fitted the diameter of the braces can be reduced to 20 to 26mm OD with same 2.6mm wall thickness. The main hoop needs to be at least 38cm between the uprights at 60cm above the seat base and required a cross brace to act as a head restraint. Top of the hoop must be greater than 10cm radius. As for fixings for stays - most are shown as 10mm diameter. Scutineers do not like to see large rod end joints used on removable stays (prefer proper clevis joints, tapered joints or tube-in-tube joints). 2009 Blue Book is available to view on-line at www.msauk.org/site/cms/contentviewarticle.asp?article=646
