Just thought I'd post a quick hello and introduce myself as a new member.
I've just finished building an MK Indy kit car but will now have to sell it (after near on 4 years of building it) due to the worsening financial situation of owning my own business.
Some time ago I was looking through a book stall at my local auto jumble and came across a copy of HSLC. An old edition but never opened (still has the postcard to send away to get the plans delivered). Having read several of Allans books, it's one that I'd been on the lookout for for quite some time.
So, long story short, my plan is to start a Terrapin build after selling the se7en and use it as a trackday car as well as taking it sprinting. Haven't decided on whether to go bike engine or mini though - I want to keep it 'quaint' rather than competetive as this will reduce the chance of me getting caught up in the expensive game of chasing that last 10th of a second against my competitors. I do quite fancy the idea of supercharging a smaller bike unit ;D
Any advice and help along the way would be more than welcome and I'll apologise well in advance of having to ask some daft questions for quite some time to come!
Steve

Welcome Steve. Good to have another member. Happy to answer any questions you have regarding the Terrapin. You were indeed very lucky to get hold of an original book. They are rarer than hens teeth.
regards Rob

Yeah - I keep it in a plastic bag and don't like reading it as the bidning is quite brittle with age.
Is it sill possible to get hold of the plans?
I'm also a little confused as to various marks that were made - are the plans based on the mk1 and then the rest is all down to development/interpretation?
And lastly, does anyone own or have access to the mold for the bodywork?

". . . .does anyone own or have access to the mold for the bodywork?"
There's an interesting comcept. Note the many, MANY unrelated looks of the Terrapin body. Each requires its' own buck, mold, etc. I plan mine to be fiberglas/kevlar, in much the manner as carbon fiber, and that requires much different tooling than a metal body would, so you have that decision to make before you decide if you can use someone else's tooling for your body.
There was some arrangement made on the board somewhere for one member to pick up someone else's body tooling, if we can figure out that someone indeed has it and you're nearby perhaps they'd share.
