Sufficient snow and sub-zero temperatures to keep me out of the garage for the past two weeks. Did clear the ice from the path to the garage today and warmed up the lathe a bit

I'd love to get to beaverin', but trying to translate from the book is slow going. I'm thinking the plans could expedite matters, but I don't know how to get them at this point. Sending a PM didn't work, and I have no way of contacting, though she posted on the board they were to remain available.

Pity you poor Terrapinists in the Northern Hemisphere! We have the opposite problem 'Down Under'-Melbourne (Australia) was 44 celsius on Monday with an overnight 'low' of 33!!!!! Gray Richards is actively racing his Terrapin in New Zealand. I am working on a list of all the known Terrapins in NZ and am trying to locate Kevin Ingram for you. Will post these when I'm done. Happy New Year to you all.

Indeed...
i've been busy with some administrative task with mny race-car club. I'll use this has my excuse. Winter has been mild so far. coldest we got was about -17 celsius, but this week the forecast is for -5 to 0... with less than 30 cm of snow on the ground it been pretty reasonable. But thsi weekend I'm heading back to work in the Garage.
Cheers,
Fred

Hi, another new member here from New Zealand, have always had a interest in the Terrapin, I know Stu and Grays car I have Audited many times, Stu has sold his car to MarK Elder, who just got run over by a XK150 at the Skope Classic, a case of wrong car, wrong class, and something that gets right up my throat, but, I have a car that has been sitting in my drive way for a couple of years, and its about to fall to bits with rust, but I did the engine up, and it produces 160hp and will do more, its a Honda City Turbo 2 (1985) and I thought what can I use the engine in, the chances of finding anoter Turbo 2 body is very slim, I am going to cut the panels that can be saved off and and put them aside, but a Terrapin build is on the cards, has any one used one of these motors? where can you buy the plans, book etc in this part of the world, regards Roger

Two people to try for the book:
Steve@totalkitcar.com or stevetkcmag@yahoo.co.uk That's for Totalkitcar.com
rmc180@aol.com This is the name Terrapin on the board, has handled the reprints.
The plans aren't available at the moment. Been working on that myself. The family has said they want to keep them available, but it isn't happening yet. I keep watching the board for news. Time will tell.

I can most likely get a set of plans from either Mark Elder, or Stu Borland as I know both well, but thought I should buy a set, with thye hope of getting a chassis plate? and to make the car legit, but if the family have no wish to continue to supply so be it. Roger

Well, we'll see. While it's not a pure Terrapin that'll fit in the class I want the single seater for, it should be easily adapted, so I'd get there quicker with the plans. And if you know what the Ariel Atom is, there's a suitable engine in the hands of a friend, who wants to build something of the like, so the prototype should work well. Therefore I'd like one of each. I don't know how adaptable to plans the self publishing arms of Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble are, but there's only one way to find out. www.createspace.com/www.iuniverse.com/

Roger, in discussion with Allan prior to his parting he mentioned a network in AUS/NZ where plans and books were being copied to enable people to build cars. Indeed I have an A4 copy of HSLC someone gave me prior to my build. He said it was inevitable. In view of the current situation I would do what you can rather than wait PS Stu Boreland was a great help may years back when I started my build

Hi Rob back after a long break. Massive upheaval at work has had me distracted for quite some time. I did make a promise to Allan (and his wife at his funeral) to keep the profile of the Terrapin car/book etc. going. Initially I was a little reluctant as Allan's daughter Clare seemed to be showing quite an interest in distributing plans & the remaining books I passed to Allan before he passed on to greater things. We did split the last print batch 50/50. So I still have a small quantity squirrelled away if anyone is struggling to get a copy. I have a few sets of plans I also bought from Allan - only the MK1 single seater & two seater versions (no bike engined copies). If anyone is intered pm their email address to me on this site and I will endeavour to pick up & reply) cheers Rob
