Hi Guys I have just finished a mock up of a MK5 engine compartment the engine and gearbox is a 1.8 litre GM it doesnt quite fit but what it shows is that all you would need is engine gearbox combination which is about 50mm shorter and you could fit a modern car engine in. I have sent the pics for Fred to post Cheers Wayne

Hey Wayne, have you played some more with the MK5 ?
What's the dimension of the GM unit. I can't get it out of my head how a Honda D-Serie motor could be the right candidate. Yes the uprights are pretty useless due to their design, but I figure a sheet metal upright using Honda components and replicating the mini dimension could be an alternative.
My current ride (1989 civic) put's about 160hp at the wheels and the sound of it with the v-tech at 8000rpm is just amazing. Around here parts parts are not an issue for these cars, and they're plenty in the junk yard making them a good donor.
I'll take some measurement of the motor and trany.
Got to get in touch with Allan about getting the MKV plans.

Hi Fred Since doig the mockup I have built a full Chassis however I made some changes I will take some pictures in the next couple of days you will be able to see the changes in the pictures. I no longer have the GM engine I just borrowed it to see if it would fit but from memory it measured 850mm X 550mm.
