Mar 18 With the hydraulics done last month the radiator is in now. I have been fixing all the bits to the bulkhead, overflow tank for the radiator, oil catch tank, fuel pump, coil, starter solenoid. The fuel tank is in position with the roll over vent valve. Some wiring now connected & thinking about the exhaust system. At this time I am gong to reconfigure a mini LCB for this motor which is standard. I see most people do a 3 into 1 which I will do if I get a longer duration cam.

Loving your work! One thing I noticed though, the brake master cylinder mounting plate seems to be a simple flat plate welded to the cross bar with no gusseting or rear bracing. I'm no engineer, but I would feel a lot safer with some kind of support for that plate. Braking forces can be way past 100kg (read somewhere up to 200kg) forced onto the masters in heavy braking, I would think even 3mm plate would bend in that case. Clutch master should be ok though. Just my thoughts.

April 18 Where did that month go? Thanks for the comment Sprite. Been busy with the wiring & gauges. The engine turns over, ignition, oil gauge & fuel gauge works. Got the water hoses connected & oil breather pipes now. So I see if the radiator etc will hold water. Sorting out the exhaust at the moment and carb. The throttle cable is not right with ends and frayed. No one seems to do generic cables. I am going to try a bicycle shop and see if they can help out. What do other people do?

Can i suggest a boating, boating spare parts shop. Over here in Australia they carry all you need to build your own custom cabling.

May 18 I found cable at the local motorcycle store. They were able to sell me the inner and ends that I wanted which was way cheaper than trying to by a made up one. The exhaust & carb are on, albeit the exhaust is not complete but enough to get it running. And it does, after some effort, and the gauges work!!! The distributor drive was out so had the dissy out to get the drive timing right. Now the I can see the timing marks. Initially I had an overheating issue & found an air lock in the pipe to the header. With engine going and not overheating I'll check the carb mixture. Next is a rain light, wind screen, finish the exhaust. Probably a little test drive is on the cards too! Then save up for a helmet, suit & harness.

Jun 18 This month was getting the windscreen made. I made a template out cardboard to get the shape and then transferred that on to 3mm mdf with a frame to position & keep the shape. I used 3mm polycarbonate and spent a week of evenings with a heat gun trying to get it up to temperature to form to the mould with limited success. I had enough brownie points to be able to use the oven. But I could only get half in at a time and fan bake didn't work but fan grill did. 30mins later I had both sides done. then making brackets and fixing to the body was the next exercise. I thought it came out OK for a first go.

Jul 18 A quiet month. Finished off the windscreen & mirrors with other bits & pieces. I hope to get an exhaust this month.

Aug 18 Spent some time getting the motor running better & carb mixture adjusted. No muffler yet. Went for a test drive and all went well, enjoy the amateur video. I found it hard to steer, change gear & hold my phone at the same time. Bit of fun though.
Now that is all good and no major issues, I'll tidy up everything ready for a track day of testing.

Oct 19 Been a while but finally got to a stage that I can start running. Changed things around, brakes, gear change, exhaust plus stemming a few oil leaks. Hoping to do a track day soon.

Nov 19 Got to the Hampton Downs in the weekend for a go around the Club Circuit. First time on the track so just finding my way around the car. It handled fine with abit of oversteer. Might be different when it isn't a nice smooth track. Quite a few oil leaks in new places now + the motor valve bounces just over 5000 so I'll pull the motor out & get it sorted now. Attachments:

Sean, That is awesome, neat build man. If you don't mind sharing - What brand & model (part numbers) coil overs did you use front and rear? Also what spring rates, I'm still not sure what to use for mine. You have aspired me to finish other projects and get back onto mine. Regards, Carnut

HI Carnut I went with Protech in the UK. Gray has them on his car & he was happy. I went 1.9" with adjustable damper as the space in the front wishbones is tight. 12.5" length, 7" springs 125lbs on the front & 150Lbs on the back. Ok on a smooth track, I'll see what they are like on a hillclimb. Probably go 8" springs next time. Hope that helps.
